Tigers Edge Shooting
5,000 Puck Challenge
Program Details
- Program dates: June 9th to August 29th
- Goal: Shoot 5,000 pucks during a 14-week challenge window.
- Each week, shoot 360 pucks (72/day for 5 days) for 14 weeks or 720 pucks (144/day for 5 days)for 7 weeks to reach 5,000. Players are encouraged to continuing shooting and tracking after they reach their goal.
- Goal is to be balanced each week and build routine
- Have a bucket of 20-50 pucks and repeat shooting
- Players should wear hockey gloves when shooting
- Player's stick should be a couple of inches shorter than stick used on the ice to make up for not being on skates
- Players should practice a combination of shots
- Completed tracking sheets must be returned to the Tigers Edge email at tigersedge@farmingtonhockey.org no earlier than August 30th and no later than September 5th
Participation
- Open to all FYHA players.
Program Participation Incentives
- shoot 5,000 pucks and 10,000 touches
- shoot 10,000 pucks and 20,000 touches
- the top four participants at each playing level with a minimum of 10,000 pucks and 20,000 touches will have
General Rules:
- 5,000 shots should be a combination of shot types (ie - forehand, backhand, snap, etc)
- Goalies must shoot with trapper and blocker on
- Activities completed prior to June 9th do not count in The Tigers Edge off-season program
- Shots do not count as puck touches for 10,000 touches challenge
- Tracking sheets can not be turned in prior to August 30th
